Announcing for friends

Last year, during the delayed spring baseball season, the boys baseball team was looking for students to announce the players. Since seniors Dylan Ginalick and Ben Cresap don’t play any spring sports, they decided that they would announce for their school’s baseball team. What they didn’t realize was that they would announce for some of their best friends two years in a row.

This position has been reserved for only seniors in the past, but not for Ginalick and Cresap, making them the first duo to to announce for back-to-back seasons.

For Ginalick, it was an easy decision. He explained, “I figured that I was gonna go to a couple of my friends’ baseball games, but I wanted to make sure I could go, and the opportunity of announcing with my friend Ben Cresap by my side just makes it an enjoyable experience.”

Ginalick, who formerly played baseball for the rec league in Monticello, said, “I played with Joey Sprinkle, Triston Foran, and Biniam Lienhart, for a while while we were growing up.”

He added, “Watching my friends, that I have actually played baseball with, play baseball now is just an overall great experience.”

His childhood friend, junior Biniam Lienhart, said, “Having Dylan announce for me is fun because I know he’s watching me play, and we’ve always been friends, so it’s special to know he’s there. It’s also funny to hear someone you know announcing your own game.”
