The Little Sages Preschool just started for the students in the class of Parenting/Child Growth and Development classes. The Big Sages write lesson plans, find crafts, and get to experience play time with the kids.

Sophomore Megan Heistand expressed, “I think it’s very important to have this preschool because it gives all of us good experience with the kids.” Getting practice with the preschoolers gives the Big Sages important, hands-on experience. It illustrates the challenges, as well as the rewards of working with children.

The Little Sages preschool program has been going on for years, and every year, it comes with new challenges. For the last two years, the preschool has been hosted online, and this is the first year MHS has been able to host it in person since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. Mrs. McCleary, the Little Sages Preschool leader, noted, “We had to make a few minor adjustments to make sure we could get the kids into the classroom, but we are ready for them.”

The preschool will go on until the end of the school year, providing the preschoolers with valuable classroom interactions before many of them move on to pre-k and kindergarten programs next year.

The preschoolers and Big Sages are excited and ready for a great semester back in the classroom together.
