Monticello’s Business Club has been participating in a nationwide stock market simulation competition since September. The fixture contains 1272 total teams, and the winning team would fly to Washington D.C. to meet President Biden at the Capitol.

This is the first year that Monticello has participated in this contest, and Monticello has three teams in the competition: two are in the top 100. One squad is in 16th, led by Senior Liam Witt and Senior Ed Mitchell, and another squad is in 29th, led by Senior Joey Sprinkle and Senior Peyton Scott.

Sprinkle remarked, “I am very happy with my position as a team leader. All the other members will ask me for information and my input to the team.” Sprinkle was ecstatic when he talked about the prize for the winning team. “I want to win so bad just so I can get a picture with THE Mr. Webb and JOE BIDEN.”

His other teammates echoed similar sentiments. Scott, the President of Business Club, said, “That would be a cool experience to meet the President of the United States, however I am not a fan of President Biden, but nonetheless it would still be a very good experience for myself and the gang.”

Monticello’s top team, led by Mitchell, has been consistently at the top of the fixture. Mitchell stated, “I think it’s pretty cool that we’re 16th out of a lot of people. My ego isn’t too inflated, because there is some luck involved.”

Mitchell enunciated, “I think winning would be pretty cool, but if we don’t, it’s not the end of the world.”

All of the teams have a month left to generate the most revenue through the stock market as the contest ends in December, and we wish the best of luck to the participants and their journey to the Capitol.
